Carry 2 College Summer | Rainbow Six: Siege Recap

Carry 2 College Summer | Rainbow Six: Siege Recap

AUTHOR: CHRIS "BEARLIGHT" LEE / @BEARLIGHTCASTS

Rainbow Six: Siege was one of three titles making an appearance in Stay Plugged In's Carry 2 College online recruitment event this past weekend. Our team, college recruiters, and parents were able to see six teams built of some of the most brilliant recruits in the title compete. The field was split into two groups of three on Saturday and would play three matches to determine seeding for Championship Sunday. The winner of each group would start in the Upper Finals for the final bracket, so we figured the matches throughout the event would be pretty close. Turns out that the entire event for Siege was as close as we've ever seen in any title. Check out which teams edged out others in both the Group Stage and the Final Bracket, and join us as we give you our Senior Spotlight and tournament MVP winners in this C2C breakdown.

SATURDAY - GROUP STAGE

To speak to the claim above mentioning our closest event ever, all six teams played two matches on Saturday. ALL SIX TEAMS ENDED THE DAY WITH A (1-1) RECORD, and of the six games played, two of them went to overtime. Let's take a look at those overtime games and see who made it through on top.

GROUP A - ANDROMEDA vs DREAMLAND

Three of the first four rounds would end up in the hands of Dreamworld as their main attack strategy on Border was methodical. However, rounds 5-8 were very one sided for their opponents, Andromeda. HATOFURU played a big part in this, ending the match with a 19/11/2 KDA. MACAR0NI also finished with a solid 13/9/2 KDA for Andromeda, but the team would drop four-in-a-row themselves as Dreamland would win with a final of (8-6). It was a big game for ZACHATTACK and LEKR0W, finishing with a 17/10/0 and 12/10/2 KDA respectively.

GROUP B - IMPERIUM vs CYNICAL

The first six rounds were split down the middle at 3 wins a piece, so it felt as though the first team to string together more than two round wins would walk away with the match win. This was technically true. ImPerium started in round 8 and got to three round wins in a row. They would surrender three rounds in a row directly after to Cynical, including the first round in overtime. ARXNDEL would lead his team through adversity and would take the final two rounds for an ImPerium (8-7) match win. ARXNDEL ended the match at a 15/10/3 KDA. Although no win to show for it, a shout out to IAMWASHEDSOBAD for an excellent 18/12/3 on team Cynical in this one.

SUNDAY - FINAL BRACKET

Based on round differential alone after the tight finish in the Group Stage, Wolfpack and Cynical won their groups and would start their day in the Upper Finals. Wolfpack seemed to have it all together early, winning by the biggest margin of the entire Rainbow Six: Siege side of the event by a count of (7-1). This would send Cynical down to the Lower Finals.

ImPerium won the group match mentioned above in overtime, and in their only other game that first day, they lost with a -4 round differential. Definite question marks existed on if they had the ability to make a lower bracket run, which would immediately be answered by an resounding "yes". Wins over Dreamland and groupmates Starlight (who beat them in the Group Stage) would send them to the Lower Finals against Team Cynical. Team Cynical looked a bit bruised and broken following their loss to Wolfpack Esports, and ImPerium took advantage to advance to the Grand Final against Wolfpack.

GRAND FINALS - WOLFPACK vs IMPERIUM

Riding all the momentum of an unmatched run in the lower bracket, ImPerium would shock Wolfpack a bit, jumping out to a (6-3) lead in the match. They knew they needed two match wins (the original set and the bracket reset) and they were one round away from the first. Unfortunately for them, they stayed on match point for two more rounds and until Wolfpack tied the match at 6 rounds each. What a comeback it was, completed by two additional round wins for a total of 5 in-a-row. FLIXZZER and NATGAV combined for a 27/19/5 KDA to lead the comeback and Wolfpack became the 2022 Summer Carry 2 College R6 Champions!
