Esports Scholarships: How to set up your recruiting profile for success

When starting your search for esports scholarships, your recruiting profile is your first impression to coaches and colleges across the nation.

At Stay Plugged In, we are here to help you set up your profile for success.

A good recruiting profile is:

  • Filled out with relevant information

  • Accurate

  • Reflects you!

You will need to communicate your skills and experience with your game, your education, and communicate what makes you a good recruit.

Esports Scholarships Recruiting Profile: The Basics

To start, fill in your profile with your name, the school you attend, graduation year, and GPA.

Be sure to be accurate with your GPA, as colleges will verify your transcripts.

Next, upload a profile picture that is personal to you. We recommend using a picture of yourself.

Keep in mind that your profile is not viewable to the public. Only college coaches who have been approved by Stay Plugged In will be able to see your profile.

Add your interests

Select the schools you are interested in from the list of colleges on the Stay Plugged In Platform.

Then, add your academic interests. These will be fields of study that you are interested in pursuing. You can always change this later.

Fill out the biography

Fill out the biography with a little bit about yourself. Include information such as:

  • How long you have been playing your esport

  • Role or characters you play (if applicable)

  • Any tournament experience

  • What sets you apart as a recruit

For example:

“Welcome to my recruiting profile!

I am looking for college esports scholarships after I graduate in Spring 2025.

I am a diamond Overwatch2 player who has been competing for 2 years. I started last season in silver but gradually climbed to diamond.

I am a support main on my high school’s team and we compete weekly in tournaments.

Additionally, I am the social media manager for my high school’s esports club and I have a passion for graphic design and video editing.

What sets me apart as a recruit is my positive attitude and mentality as well as my dedication to always improve my skills.

I am looking for schools in Illinois, but I am open to other schools in the midwest.”
