Turbo Tuesday | Week 40 Recap

Turbo Tuesday | Week 40 Recap

AUTHOR: CHRIS "BEARLIGHT" LEE / @BEARLIGHTCASTS

The 40th and final week of Turbo Tuesday in 2022 played out this past Tuesday, and after a year overflowing with Rocket League collegiate prospects and their incredible stories on-and-off the pitch, it was only fitting that this week would become one of our biggest weekly events, and would end in an incredibly entertaining Grand Finals. Check out the results and relive the final bracket of the year in this week's Turbo Tuesday breakdown.

BIG WEEK FOR ARDREY KELL ROCKET LEAGUE

Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, NC just recently joined Stay Plugged In's partners in the CMS Varsity Esports & Stem League for their inaugural "Season 0" over the Fall semester. Their newly formed esports program had just a few weeks to host tryouts and get a Rocket League team up and into gear for the season, and they made the most of it.

Following a 4th place finish here in Turbo Tuesday against some of the best up-and-coming Rocket League players across the country, the team seemed to have utilized the weekly bracket efficiently. They got the top notch practice they were looking for to prepare for what was in store the very next day: The CMS League Playoffs hosted at the Stay Plugged In HQ. Ardrey Kell would finish Wednesday night as CMS League champions.

MVP BEARIS was interviewed by local news reporters as well, an unforgettable experience that all began with the work he and his team put in this week and in week's past. You can check out the news story that includes a recap of his interview here.

"MID G's" BATTLE "DABBLERS" FOR THE TITLE

Last week, the Dabblers couldn't be stopped. Consisting of veterans DAROU, TUV, and SPOOKED, they dropped just one game in route to their first Turbo Tuesday title as a group. This week started out similar, as they left their mark on a couple of teams early with continuous sweeps into the Upper Final.

Meanwhile, COSMIC of Mid G's had been fighting to break into the Grand Final for the past few weeks. Although he has a Turbo Tuesday title in the past, it had been since Week 29 since the title was his. Prior to that, Week 23 was the second most recent title for Cosmic. We welcomed him back to the top in a big way, beginning with a (3-0) win over the mighty Dabblers in the Upper Final. The two teams would meet again in the Grand Finals.

When we say that the rematch was a back-and-forth, we mean both in goals and results. Mid G's took Game 1 (3-0), only to be met by a (5-1) winning effort by Dabblers in the next one. Mid G's regained their defensive stride in Game 3 with a (3-2) win, which would accumulate with their one-game advantage in the series to send them to match point. Once again, Dabblers were not too happy with their opponents. They went off with a (4-1) win to pull the series within one. Then, in Game 5, thanks to the immaculate mechanics of KFROST and PIXZAKAR feeding off of COSMIC's playmaking ability, Mid G's were able to edge out the Dabblers for the Turbo Tuesday title.

Congratulations to Mid G's for their Turbo Tuesday Week 40 championship, and to KFROST for proving that he can still conquer our Rocket League Stay Plugged In events as he earns the Week 40 MVP title. We thank everyone who participated in Turbo Tuesday during the 2022 year, and we encourage you to keep an eye on our events page for some exciting new changes that may be coming to Rocket League events next year. See you then!
