University of Michigan-Flint students have the opportunity to compete on teams in select multiplayer games and represent the university in the ever-growing Esports scene. Students will help shape the game and league selections, while the esports program coordinator will help with the behind-the-scenes tasks. Popular esports games include League of Legends, Super Smash Bros., and Fortnite Battle Royale, among many others. Just like any other sport, esports requires teamwork, practice, and physical exercise. Esports is also a social experience that brings students together and gives them a sense of inclusion. Other skills students can gain through esports include teamwork, strategic thinking and planning, managing success and failure, and time management.
