NCISAA LAN Finale Recap

NCISAA LAN Finale Recap

The NCISAA LAN Finale was hosted in conjunction with Stay Plugged In at the Carolina Esports Hub in Charlotte, NC. In “Season Zero” of the NCISAA Esports League, local area high schools from the Carolinas came together in person to compete for a championship across several game titles.

Valorant

The Valorant portion of the event had 7 teams face off in a single elimination bracket, playing for the title of Season Champion. Early on, we saw several teams have close matches, including Charlotte Christian School edging an early win over Christ School, 13 - 10. The semi final matches were short and sweet, seeing Cannon School Varsity and Gold teams take wins over Charlotte Christian & Cannon Pink. The championship match featured two teams from Cannon School, their Varsity roster and Gold roster. The Cannon Varsity Roster won the championship with a decisive 13 - 6 scoreline.

Rocket League

The Rocket League competition consisted of three teams, Christ School, Greensboro Day School and Cannon School. The first match had Christ School face off against Greensboro Day School, which saw Greensboro Day School take the win 3 - 0 in a clean sweep. Greensboro Day then had to face Cannon school in the final, which if their Rocket League teams were as good as their Valorant teams, would mean a tough matchup. Cannon took the championship 3 - 0, showing that they have talent across multiple games.

Smash: Ultimate

Nine players competed in the finale for Smash: Ultimate. Throughout the matches, we saw two players in particular who stood out.  "Jakon" and "Leen", both representing Cannon Schools, showed off their skills and breezed through the bracket.  "Leen" dropped just one match and ultimately met "Jakon" in the finals. In a tense match, “Jakon” took the finals 4 - 2 after a few close first games. Again, Cannon School showed their prowess in esports, claiming the championship across all titles.

The season finale was one to remember, as we saw many great moments amongst the students, as they were able to compete in what they love, live in person amongst their peers. All left with a smile on their faces and asking when the next event would be!

Details on the Fall 22 season will be released shortly.
